March Wellness Wednesdays
Practicing Humility
As part of our Wellness Wednesday focus on resiliency and wellbeing, March’s word of the month is Humility.
Humility means putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve. It’s about recognizing that everyone matters and choosing kindness, fairness, and teamwork over being “right” or seeking attention.
For students, humility can look like sharing credit for success, listening to others’ ideas, or helping a classmate even when there’s nothing in it for you. For families, humility shows up when we model patience, admit mistakes, and show empathy in everyday moments.
Why Humility Supports Wellbeing
Practicing humility helps build strong relationships and encourages respect and trust. When students learn to think beyond themselves, they develop resilience—understanding that setbacks, disagreements, and challenges are part of growing and learning.
What Humility Looks Like in Action
- Letting someone else go first
- Accepting feedback without getting upset
- Apologizing when you’ve made a mistake
- Helping others succeed, even if you don’t get recognition
Family Connection
This week, try talking together about a time when someone showed humility. How did it make others feel? How did it help solve a problem or bring people together?
March Challenge:
Encourage your student to practice one humble act each day—at school, at home, or with friends. Small choices can make a big difference.
When we choose humility, we strengthen our community, support one another, and grow into confident, compassionate individuals.
