April Wellness Wednesdays
Honoring One Another
As part of our Wellness Wednesday focus on resiliency and wellbeing, April’s word of the month is Honor.
Honor means letting others know you see how valuable they really are. It shows up in the way we speak to one another, how we listen, and the choices we make every day. When students and families practice honor, we help create a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels respected and included.
For students, honoring others can be as simple as encouraging a classmate, appreciating a teacher’s effort, or treating peers with kindness—even when it’s not easy. For adults, honor means modeling respect, acknowledging effort, and showing students that their thoughts and feelings matter.
Why Honor Matters for Wellbeing
When people feel valued, they are more confident, connected, and resilient. Honoring others strengthens relationships, reduces conflicts, and encourages empathy—important skills for handling challenges both in school and in life.
What Honor Looks Like in Action
- Listening when someone else is speaking
- Using respectful words and tone
- Including others and standing up for classmates
- Thanking people for their help and effort
- Recognizing strengths, not just mistakes
Family Connection
This week, take time to notice and name something you appreciate about each other. A few sincere words can go a long way in showing respect and care.
April Challenge:
Encourage your student to honor one person each day—at home, at school, or in the community—by showing kindness, offering help, or sharing a positive comment.
When we honor one another, we build a stronger, more resilient school community where everyone knows they matter.
